Alexander Zverev has been steadily chipping away at Jannik Sinner's commanding lead all season, and his run to the US Open final has accelerated that pursuit significantly. The most striking storyline, however, surrounds Novak Djokovic. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has dropped out of the top 10 entirely, the first time that has happened since July 2018. It marks a sobering moment for one of the sport's all-time greats.
