A Coaching Change at the Top
Jannik Sinner is poised to begin a new chapter in his career by bringing on Magnus Norman as his head coach at the conclusion of the 2026 season, according to a report from The Times. The Swedish former world No. 2 will replace Darren Cahill, who has been a key part of Sinner's team since July 2022. Alongside co-coach Simone Vagnozzi, Cahill helped guide the Italian to five Grand Slam titles, making his departure a significant moment for one of the sport's biggest stars. There had been uncertainty surrounding Cahill's future for some time, and the 2026 campaign proved especially turbulent, with Sinner sidelined by a knee injury after defending his Wimbledon title. That injury forced him to miss the US Open and the season-ending ATP Finals, and he is not expected to return to competitive play until early 2027.
Norman's Remarkable Coaching Track Record
Norman brings a coaching resume that few can match. He guided Robin Soderling to back-to-back French Open finals in 2009 and 2010, a run that included Soderling's stunning victory over Rafael Nadal, which ended a 31-match Paris winning streak for the then four-time Roland Garros champion. Norman then joined Stan Wawrinka's corner in 2013, overseeing three Grand Slam victories: the 2014 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open, and the 2016 US Open. Each of those titles came against the game's all-time greats, including wins over Novak Djokovic and Federer. With Wawrinka now retiring at the close of this season, Norman is free to take on his most high-profile assignment yet. TennisDraw bracket enthusiasts will be watching closely to see how this partnership shapes Sinner's title hopes heading into 2027.
