The 19-year-old Spanish teenager has secured a spot in his first ATP 500 final at the Washington DC Open, and in doing so, he will crack the top 15 of the ATP Rankings for the first time in his career. Jodar's path to the final was anything but straightforward. After upsetting fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals, he dropped the opening set against Alejandro Tabilo before rallying to win 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-4. The deciding set featured a crucial early break that helped Jodar control the match and book his place in Sunday's final.
His opponent will be American Taylor Fritz, who beat compatriot Brandon Nakashima in three sets.
