Iga Swiatek's commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over Elena Rybakina in the Canadian Open final delivered far more than a trophy. The win sparked a notable reshuffle in the WTA rankings, with the 25-year-old Pole jumping three spots to fifth in the live standings after banking 880 points.
The title was Swiatek's 12th WTA 1000 crown, pushing her past Aryna Sabalenka's tally of 11 and into second place on the all-time list since the format launched in 2009. Only Serena Williams, with 13, sits ahead of her now. After a season she described as probably the toughest of her life, the six-time major winner delivered a heartfelt speech at the trophy ceremony, dedicating the title to anyone facing unfair judgment while urging them to keep growing and focusing on themselves.
