Neal Skupski and Christian Harrison are Grand Slam champions for the second time in 2026, claiming the US Open men's doubles title at Arthur Ashe Stadium without losing a single set throughout the entire tournament. The fifth seeds defeated the German sixth-seed pairing of Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) in a final that had the New York crowd fully invested thanks to home favourite Harrison.
The pair secured the only service break of the match during the first set, Harrison drilling a backhand winner down the line to move ahead 4-3 before closing out the opener comfortably. The second set stayed level all the way to a tiebreak, where Puetz and Krawietz earned a set point after a return clipped the net and caught Harrison off guard. Skupski and Harrison dug in, saved it, and then converted their championship point when Skupski finished with a decisive smash at the net.
Redemption After Years of Near Misses
For Skupski, the victory carries deep personal meaning. He lost the US Open final in painful fashion the previous year alongside fellow Briton Joe Salisbury, squandering three championship points. Before that, Skupski and Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof fell short in the 2022 final as well. Salisbury eventually stepped away from the sport to manage anxiety, which opened the door for the Skupski and Harrison partnership to form.
This title is now Skupski's third doubles Grand Slam, adding to his 2023 Wimbledon crown with Koolhof and the pair's Australian Open win earlier this year. He also holds two mixed doubles Grand Slam titles from Wimbledon in 2021 and 2022 alongside Desirae Krawczyk. Skupski captured the moment well: "It's amazing what a year does in tennis."
