Quinn argued that top players like Sinner and Alcaraz simply do not need to grind through every Masters 1000 on the calendar, especially when long travel and uncertain fitness are involved. "Why would they travel that far to somewhere where they don't really want to play?" Quinn noted, summing up the calculus.

Alexander Zverev, who claimed the US Open title this season, now holds a real shot at the number one ranking.
