Speaking at the Washington Open, de Minaur confirmed the pair have submitted their entry for this year's tournament, held just weeks after the high-profile couple tied the knot. However, he was candid about the hurdle standing in their way. Their combined rankings are unlikely to earn them automatic entry, with Boulter currently ranked around No. 71 in the world. As de Minaur put it, they will probably have to rely on a wildcard and are simply hoping that this year they finally get the opportunity to compete together.
Last year, the couple missed out entirely after being denied a wildcard, making this year's bid feel particularly meaningful. The mixed doubles event, introduced in 2025, has quickly become one of the tour's most talked-about spectacles. This edition already boasts some extraordinary pairings, including Novak Djokovic alongside Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek teaming with Casper Ruud, and Alexander Zverev partnering Taylor Townsend.
The wildcard picture is further complicated by several big names yet to confirm their participation. Carlos Alcaraz, rumored to be pairing with Serena Williams, is not on the initial entry list. Jannik Sinner and Venus Williams are also absent from confirmed entries, though Williams is widely expected to play in what could be her farewell tournament at her home Grand Slam.
