Most recently, he was forced to skip Wimbledon entirely, and is now targeting a return at the DC Open in Washington beginning July 27 as he attempts to rebuild momentum ahead of the final Grand Slam of the season.
The contrast with his fellow British players could hardly be starker. Arthur Fery, now ranked 36th after his stunning wild-card run to the Wimbledon semi-finals, will make his US Open main draw debut at Flushing Meadows. Emma Raducanu, the 2021 champion, sits at 37th, just outside the top 32 seeds. Cam Norrie, Jan Choinski, and Katie Boulter round out a healthy British contingent in the main draw.
On the men's side, Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner headlines as the top seed, aiming to reclaim the title that Carlos Alcaraz won from him in last year's final. Aryna Sabalenka headlines the women's draw seeking a third consecutive US Open crown, a feat no woman has achieved since Serena Williams completed her hat-trick back in 2014.
