Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka have confirmed they will partner each other in the mixed doubles at the 2026 US Open, which begins on August 25 in New York. The pairing brings together two of the sport's biggest names for the two-day event that was controversially revamped just last year to spotlight superstar combinations.
The field is shaping up to be spectacular. Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula plan to reunite after reaching the 2025 semi-finals, while Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, who finished runners-up last year, are also returning. Other notable pairings include Naomi Osaka with Kei Nishikori, Taylor Fritz alongside Elena Rybakina, and Russian duo Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev. Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, the only doubles specialists in last year's draw, will attempt to repeat their title-winning heroics.
Notably absent are Carlos Alcaraz, still recovering from a wrist injury, and Jannik Sinner, who skipped the event last year and has withdrawn from the Canadian Open to focus on his fitness heading into the Slam.
For Djokovic, the mixed doubles represents rare doubles action at Flushing Meadows. His overall career doubles record is actually a losing one, with 67 wins against 83 defeats for a 46 percent win rate. His only ATP doubles title came at Queen's Club in 2010 alongside Jonathan Erlich. At the US Open specifically, his sole prior doubles appearance came way back in 2006, when he and Jimmy Wang fell in the first round.
Interestingly, concerns about a potential boycott from top players over Grand Slam revenue sharing did not materialize, with Sabalenka, Swiatek, and Pegula all entering despite their involvement in collective player negotiations.
